For years, maintaining my natural hair felt like an extreme sport, it wasn’t something I looked forward to at all. It felt like a chore I wanted to get through quickly. On top of that, the products I was using only made things worse. They were filled with toxins, caused more damage, and simply didn’t work for my textured hair.

Everything changed when I decided to take my haircare seriously and shift the way I viewed the process. Since good haircare is essential for healthy hair, I chose to romanticise the experience. I turned it into a moment of self-care - a time to slow down, connect with myself, and truly enjoy caring for my hair. I also discovered clean, plant-based ingredients, that made my hair thrive and finally gave me the results I had been searching for.

I created Lela Esse for people like me —  who love switching it up with protective styles, but still want to care for their natural hair underneath. We’re not anti-extensions, we just make sure your real hair gets the love it needs, too. Our star ingredient Batana restore hair strength, nourishes and support thinning areas from tension or postpartum shedding.
